Newspapers: New York Times

This guide is intended for all those searching for newspaper articles.

Enjoy access to NYTimes.com, courtesy of the Marydean Martin Library.*

The library offers free access to the NYTimes.com website, including breaking news, reviews and opinion, blogs, videos and more.

Follow the steps below to create your NYTimes.com account.  This account will function as your "free pass."

After you activate your free account, returning users should go directly to NYTimes.com or the app to log in.

First Time Users: Create Your Free New York Times Account

First Time Users: To activate your access to NYTimes.com, follow these steps:

  1. Visit nevadastate.libguides.com/nytimes (a private or incognito browser window is highly recommended).
  2. Log in with your NSHE ID and password when prompted.
    • Click IGNORE if you get an error message, or ACCEPT COOKIES if prompted.
    • You will then see this welcome screen:
      New York Times Sign Up Page - To claim your pass, start by creating a free New York Times account. Create Account button.
  3. Click on the "Create Account" button.
  4. Fill in your Nevada State-issued email address and create a password.
  5. Click "Create Account."

After claiming your pass, go directly to NYTimes.com to sign in, or download the mobile app for access. Visit nytimes.com/mobile for more information.

Subscription Benefits

To see your subscription benefits, navigate to your Account from a browser and select Subscription overview.

Using NYTimes.com

  • Browse. Click on the "hamburger" icon to browse newspaper sections and topics.
  • Access newsletters and more. Selecting the "More" option at the bottom of the menu options provides a list of additional NYT content, including newsletters that you can subscribe to.
  • Search. Click on the "search" icon to search for specific content. You can filter your results by Date Range, Section, and Type. Results may be sorted by relevance or date.
