Stay tuned for Spring 2025 event details!
Join us at upcoming events to explore the Common Read themes! You can also find some of our events on Scorpion Central.
Below is a list of events that were held in Fall 2024. Thank you to all of our event partners and attendees!
Celebrate the freedom to read during Banned Books Week! Stop by the Marydean Martin Library (RSC 2nd floor) to learn more about recent attempts to censor books in libraries and schools. During the event you will be able to interact with the Library's banned books display and learn about stories from the Common Read that discuss censorship issues.
Join us for a lively discussion of selected stories from The Moth Presents All These Wonders: True Stories about Facing the Unknown. The format of this "book club" is that we will listen to a story or two from the book and then have an informal discussion (reading in advance is not required). Lunch is provided - Please RSVP to reserve your meal! Attendees will also receive a free Common Read book.
You won't want to miss Nepantla's 7th annual Día De Los Muertos Celebration! Attendees are invited to celebrate, remember, and honor social movements, those who have passed, lost pieces of society, or self during this night of communal healing. Explore all of the creative altars or ofrendas, including the Library's altar inspired by the Common Read. This event is open to Nevada State community members, family, and friends. If you have any questions about this event, please contact nepantla@nevadastate.edu.
